How to take part
If your doctor has invited you to take part, he or she believes that your type of cancer may make you a suitable candidate for both active surveillance and PROVENT. However, it’s entirely up to you whether you join the study or not.
If you are interested, your doctor will give you a Patient Information Sheet to read and understand. You can take the Patient Information Sheet home to read, and you may wish to discuss it with your family and /or friends. If you decide not to take part, the standard of care that you receive won’t be affected in any way.
If you decide to take part, you’ll be asked to sign a consent form on your next visit. You’ll then be asked some ‘screening’ questions, and a blood sample will be taken to check you are suitable for the trial.
Men with prostate cancer may be eligible to take part in PROVENT if:
- Their cancer is being managed by active surveillance
- They are a patient at one of the participating PROVENT trial centres
- They meet the study’s specific eligibility criteria
Unfortunately patients diagnosed with prostate cancer being managed by treatments other than active surveillance are not eligible to join PROVENT.
